Guy Begin
Guy is the chief engineer of OmniGlobe Networks, bringing 25+ years of experience in research and development of advanced telecommunications systems.
Professor
He is an associate professor with the department of computer science of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), where he teaches in the areas of computer science and microelectronics engineering. He just finished a three-year term as Chairman of the department, the second largest computer science department in Canada. Over the 15 years at UQAM, Guy conducted research in the areas of telecommunications, wireless, software, security, satellite, networking, protocols, systems architecture, microelectronics and signal processing.
Guy has also undertaken independent consulting work for leading high tech companies in his areas of expertise.
Research and Development
In 1999, while on leave from UQAM, he spent a year with EMS Satellite Networks CANADA, (formerly SPAR Aerospace) where he was instrumental in the development of terminal and gateway equipment for satellite communications. He was involved in several research and development projects funded by the Canadian Space Agency.
Guy holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada) and a B.Eng. in Unified Engineering. He has published over 15 publications in the fields of satellite, telecommunications, systems architecture and microelectronics. He holds seven US / worldwide patents and patents pending for work on satellite and Internet performance enhancement, and decoding mechanisms for error control.
