OMNIGLOBE NETWORKS RECEIVES FUNDING SUPPORT FROM NRC-IRAP TO DEVELOP COST-EFFECTIVE REMOTE AND RURAL AREA BROADBAND INTERNET SOLUTIONS

Montreal, Canada (November 1, 2005): OmniGlobe Networks Inc. announced today that it has received financial support from the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) to contribute to the development of a new broadband networking technologies that will bring the benefits of high-speed data networks to remote areas of Canada and developing nations at a fraction of current costs. OmniGlobe Networks develops integrated turnkey network solutions built on standards-based satellite and terrestrial wireless technologies coupled with proprietary bandwidth optimization technology.

Businesses and residential users in many developing nations and rural areas of developed markets like Canada currently only have access to low-speed, unreliable dialup Internet service. High-speed always-on data connectivity would not, in general, be possible without large infrastructure expenditures. OmniGlobe Networks’ hybrid satellite and terrestrial wireless solutions will offer ‘instant infrastructure’ through the creation of long-range wireless ‘hot zones’, each with potentially thousands of end users; these hot zones will in turn be connected to the North American or European Internet backbone via satellite terminals and geo-stationary satellites. Users will benefit from a total pipe capacity of up to 36 megabits per second (Mbps) for each hot zone at distances of up to 30 km. from the hot zone’s wireless base station where the satellite terminal resides.

“We are extremely happy of the support received from NRC-IRAP and we look forward to meeting our common goal of bridging the growing bandwidth gap between developed and undeveloped markets”, said Dr. Jason D. Neale, CEO of OmniGlobe Networks. “We will be using these funds to deliver disruptive technology innovations that will benefit both remote parts of Canada and underserved markets in the Third World.”
