Omniglobe Networks

OmniGlobe Networks Inc. was formed in Montreal, Canada in 2004 by its founder and CEO, Dr. Jason Neale.

Jason met Co-founder and OmniGlobe non-exec director Shyam Kamadolli when they studied for their MBAs as part of a joint program run by the London Business School (UK) and Columbia Business School (U.S). They both completed their MBAs in 2004.

The Big Idea

The plan was simple. Everyone needs broadband two-way communications for internet, voice, data and soon television. But there are countless areas of the world where broadband is unavailable, unreliable or simply too expensive. The OmniGlobe team devised a set of parameters with which to test for optimum commercial potential. Those parameters included a sustainable weakness of existing terrestrial communications, topography, economic growth rate, clustering of populations, a degree of political stability and of course the availability of the required operating licenses.

Scale of the Market

It would be too much to expect OmniGlobe to list the territories we consider ripe for wireless broadband. But suffice to say the market potential, even in the initial limited country mix, was 15m users with potential gross revenue of $9bn. Clearly wireless broadband is going to be big.

Fast Growing Revenue

The plan is working well. Today OmniGlobe is a profitable and cash generative company with a growing team of highly specialized satcomms and wireless engineering staff. OmniGlobe’s customers couldn’t be more diverse – from Canadian First Nations communities up near the artic Circle to Coalition forces in southern Iraq. And from holiday beach homes in Cyprus to hospitals and schools in Nigeria.

A Partnership Approach

In everything it does OmniGlobe seeks partnerships. In the way it has orchestrated world scale and quality suppliers to construct the OmniGlobe network offer, and in the way it shares profits and rewards with its Internet Service Provider partners in the field. And OmniGlobe has already gained an enviable reputation as a true global leader in the R&D research it carries out partnered with the Canadian government and bodies such as the European Space Agency.
